Our Playgroup

Ava & I are in a mommy/baby play group. We meet once a week to play at each others houses. All the babies are between 7 and 14 months, so they play well together and are really fun to watch. Ava loves all of her new friends and I am enjoying having some new Austin friends as well. The moms all went out for our first moms night out last week and had a great time!

Ava at Eight Months

My baby girl is eight months old! This is the first month that I am a little sad about her getting a month older. She is getting a little too close to one year old and although I look forward to her being able to walk and talk and do more activities, there is a part of me that wants her to stay this cuddly little baby a bit longer.

Eight Month Photo Shoot. I got her this little dress before she was born, so it was really sweet for her to finally be able to wear it.

Ava is such a fun baby. These are four of the many smiles that she shows us every day.

Bunny Comparison

What Ava is doing at 8 months
1. Ava sticks her tongue out A LOT (as you can see in the picture above). When strangers come up and talk to her, she smiles and then sticks her tongue out. When Clint gets home from work and says hi, she sticks her tongue out. It is really funny.
2. Her hair is getting much longer and she has started pulling on it on the side, so she ends up with little pointed pieces of hair that won't lay back down.
3. She is adding consonants to her words. When she is sad or wants to be held, she says "maaaaaa" or "muuuumm". She has also said "baaa" and "gaa" a few times.
4. She giggles and laughs a lot. When we talk to her or she is playing, she will just get really tickled.
5. She has started eating the baby food meats. Fruit is still her favorite food.....particularly fruit mixes that include bananas.
6. She is really good at eating her Gerber graduates. She can eat them by the handful now.
7. When we go out to eat, she knows we are eating food and wants to be included, so she eats small bits of bread or tortilla.
8. She has taken two crawls and then flops down on her belly and scoots across the floor. She is happy getting where she wants to go by doing the army crawl scoot.
9. When she gets inpatient, she lets out a loud grunt or holler.
10. She is still pretty cuddly.......especially when she is sleepy.
11. She continues to want paper, cords, magazines, laptops, books.....anything that she isn't supposed to have. She spots it across the room.......scoots as fast as she can for it and chews whatever it is until I catch her.
12. Due to her love for Gerber graduates, she now thinks any piece of fuzz or dirt on the carpet is food..........so into the mouth it goes.
13. She is not as good at playing by herself lately. She wants me or Clint to be in the floor playing with her at all times.
14. She can crawl up into my lap. When I am sitting on the floor with her, she will crawl over to me and get in my lap. It is like being beside me is just not quite close enough for her.
15. She can grab onto my shoulders or hands and pull herself up.
16. She does very well in church nursery.
17. I have taken Ava to a few play groups and she really likes seeing the other babies. She wants to pull on their arms and legs and shirts.
